The Lady Arrows Soccer team continued their winning ways Thursday night with a 2-1 victory over the Brandon Lady Bulldogs. The win moves the Lady Arrows to 3-0-1 on the young season.
Clinton struck first just after halftime in the 50th minute when Senior
Cooper Pletzke scored with an assist from Senior
Lauren Warner. The Lady Bulldogs tied the game a couple minutes later with a 1-1 score. The Lady Arrows put their stamp on the game 5 minutes later when Sophomore
Kayla Jones received another assist from Warner and was able to push it past the Brandon keeper to take the lead for good with a final 2-1 score. The Lady Arrows' defense proved worthy in the final 15 minutes of the game as they continuously did a great job of finding each other on clearing passes and pushing the ball downfield to protect the lead.
The win on Thursday came with a heavy heart for the Lady Arrows' program. Head Coach Elliot Rimmer has been forced to cope with the loss of his mother earlier this week. The Lady Arrows were by their coach's side all week, and attended the funeral as a team on Thursday afternoon before playing on Thursday night. Rimmer said of his team, "The girls did something today that is worth pointing out, and that's go from mourning to competing in a three hour period. We have focused for years now on creating a culture that cares for each other and lifts each other up, and any success we find is a result of that. Today was just one example of that, and I can't say enough how proud I am of them for their commitment to being a team, and their resilience in the face of adversity."
The Lady Arrows return to action at Arrow Field at 5:30 PM on Tuesday night as they host the Lady Chargers of Southaven High School.
