Nikita Mitchell

Entering her 4th year of coaching and 6th year of teaching, Nikita Mitchell joins the
Arrows family as Clinton High School Girls Basketball Varsity Assistant Coach and Head
Coach for Sumner Hill Girls Basketball Team. Nikita joins the Clinton family with a wealth
of experience, assisting in leading her former team, the Morton Lady Panthers, to
consecutive 4A State Championship appearances with a finishing record of 30-3 and
26-6. Nikita “Coach K” Mitchell is a graduate of Raleigh High School but she began her
coaching journey at Jones College where she received a full athletic scholarship to
continue her athletic career while majoring in Physical Education. After finishing, she
received a Bachelor's Degree from Jackson State University and a Graduate degree from
Belhaven University. Mitchell then embarked on a career at ReImagine Prep Charter
School where she served as Athletic Director and Jr. High Girls Basketball Coach for 2
years.
Mitchell also serves as an advocate and mentor for young adults, devoting spare time to
her family, church, community, tutoring, and outreach organization, Stewpot. With a
passion for being a servant leader and working with MS youth, Mitchell created and
organized military youth events for the State as Youth Events Coordinator for the MS
Army National Guard in 2018.
Nikita “Coach K” Mitchell resides in Morton, MS with her two children, Bryson (15) and
Khaleesi (6). Mitchell is ready to accept the challenge and advance her career as she
joins the Arrows program. She is honored to work alongside Coach Fairley and assist
the Lady Arrows Basketball teams in the upcoming seasons.
Mitchell’s coaching philosophy is grounded in competitiveness, character, and joy for the
game. She strongly believes in mastering life-long skills through sports, as a platform to
teaching leadership and resilience. As a testament to her faith and hard work, Mitchell’s
favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23-24 which states, “23 And whatever you do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the
reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”
This season, Nikita “Coach K” Mitchell is committed to building strong team chemistry, helping
players grow on and off the court, and fostering an environment where sportsmanship,
respect, and hardwork are at the forefront.
