Arrows roll past Pearl for first win

PEARL -- The Clinton High School football team trounced the Pearl Pirates, 41-13, in a non-region game on Friday, September 18, at Ray Rogers Stadium on the campus of Pearl High School.

Jayden Jones accounted for five touchdowns -- four rushing and one passing -- while the Arrow defense turned in its best performance of the season as Clinton collected its first victory of 2026.

Pearl opened the scoring when Jayden Thomas capped a seven-play drive with an 11-yard touchdown run before Seager Foster's extra point gave the hosts a 7-0 advantage in the first quarter.

Six minutes later, Jones answered with a 23-yard touchdown run, and Brayden Gough tied the game with the first of his five successful extra-point attempts.

Braylon Lowery gave Clinton the lead with a 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter before Jones extended the advantage to 21-7 with a 3-yard score with 26 seconds remaining before halftime.

Clinton carried that momentum into the second half.

Jones connected with Dayson Scott for a 16-yard touchdown before adding his third rushing score of the night from 1 yard out as the Arrows stretched their advantage to 34-7.

Pearl answered with 10:17 remaining in the fourth quarter when Peyton Parks scored on a 1-yard run, but Jones responded with his fourth rushing touchdown, scoring from 2 yards out to establish the final margin.

BY THE NUMBERS

Clinton controlled the game on both sides of the ball, outgaining Pearl 306-185 while collecting 22 first downs to the Pirates' seven.

The Arrows rushed for 212 yards on 48 attempts behind the starting offensive line of Karlton Jackson, Caden Johnson, Tyboris Loftin, Dereon Simmons, and Graham Williams.

Jones completed 10-of-16 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown adding 63 yards and four touchdowns on nine carries. Boskey Evans led Clinton on the ground with 65 yards on 13 attempts, while Lowery rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. Cayden Albert added 34 yards on four attempts.

Scott led the receiving corps with five catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Matthew Fletcher added three receptions for 23 yards.

Defensively, Clinton limited Pearl to 95 rushing yards and 90 passing yards. Trevion Casnel led the Arrows with nine total tackles, including seven solo stops. Devin Harris followed with six tackles, while Malik Jackson recorded a 12-yard sack and Sean Riddley recovered a fumble.

The Arrows finished 5-of-11 on third down and a perfect 3-for-3 on fourth down.
