CLINTON -- The Clinton High School football team hits the road Friday night as the Arrows take on the Pearl Pirates in non-region action.

Clinton (0-3) and Pearl (1-2) will kick off at 7 p.m. at Ray Rogers Stadium in Pearl.

THE MATCHUP

The Arrows enter Friday's contest following a 30-18 loss to Brandon at Arrow Field.

Clinton trailed 16-11 at halftime, but Brandon scored the first 14 points of the second half to pull away before the Arrows added a late fourth-quarter touchdown.

Boskey Evans scored a 24-yard touchdown run, and Reese Lott caught a 2-point-conversion pass from holder John Jackson following the score. Brayden Gough nailed a 27-yard field goal at the end of the second before Jayden Jones connected with Jackson for a fourth-quarter touchdown to close out the scoring for the Arrows.

"What I love about our group is just the resiliency," Clinton Head Football Coach Hamer Morgan said. "They come back to work every day, and they've played their tails off for three games. The ball hasn't bounced our way, but that's what we tell them: Just keep chopping."

Pearl enters the matchup coming off a thrilling 16-12 win over Florence. The Pirates snapped a two-game skid when a last-second Hail Mary touchdown proved to be the difference against their Rankin County rivals.

Friday will mark Clinton's third road game through the first four weeks of the season, but Morgan said the Arrows' focus remains on controlling the challenges they can control.

"Pearl is always a physical bunch. We know that, and our kids know that," Morgan said. "We've got to match their physicality and really exceed it.

"We really don't talk about those things too much," Morgan added. "We just control what we can control."
