CLINTON -- The Clinton High School football team dropped its third consecutive game to start the 2026 season, falling to Brandon, 30-18, on Friday, September 11, at Arrow Field.

The Arrows trailed the Bulldogs by five points at halftime, but Brandon scored the first 14 points of the second half to pull away for the non-region victory.

Boskey Evans opened the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown run, breaking away from the pursuing Brandon defenders. Clinton followed with a trick play on the conversion attempt as holder John Jackson found long snapper Reese Lott to give the Arrows an 8-0 advantage.

Brandon answered behind Tyson Robinson, who scored a 1-yard touchdown run before adding the 2-point conversion to send the game into the second quater tied at 8.

The Bulldogs used strong field position to record a safety midway through the second quarter before Sladen Shack's 36-yard touchdown run extended Brandon's advantage to 16-8 with 34 seconds remaining in half.

Clinton responded before the break. Brayden Gough connected on a 27-yard field goal as time expired, trimming the Bulldogs' advantage to 16-11 at halftime.

Brandon took control in the second half behind a pair of touchdown passes from Shack. The Bulldogs' quarterback connected on scoring strikes of 77 and 9 yards to extend the advantage to 30-11 with 5:44 remaining.

Clinton found the end zone once more when Jayden Jones connected with Jackson for a 27-yard touchdown with 29 seconds remaining, producing the final 30-18 margin.

BY THE NUMBERS

Clinton controlled possession throughout the contest, holding the football for 30 minutes, 25 seconds compared with Brandon's 17:35. The Arrows ran 68 offensive plays and recorded 16 first downs but were held to 233 yards of total offense.

The Clinton defense limited Brandon to 53 rushing yards on 28 attempts, but the Bulldogs found success through the air, totaling 256 yards. Brandon finished with 309 yards.

Jones led Clinton's rushing attack with 87 yards on 14 carries, while Evans added 59 yards on 11 attempts.

Jones finished with 11-of-25 passing for 107 yards and a touchdown. Amarreau Coleman completed one of his two attempts for 13 yards.

Dayson Scott led Clinton with 55 receiving yards on one reception, while Jackson caught two passes for 40 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown in the closing seconds. Cayden Albert added two receptions for 10 yards.

Defensively, Devin Harris recorded an interception for the Arrows. Montario Braden paced Clinton with six solo tackles, while Sean Riddley recorded five total tackles. Christian Smith and Christopher Jones added four tackles apiece.

The Arrows return to action Friday, September 18, visiting the Pearl Pirates at Ray Rogers Stadium on the campus of Pearl High School. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
