BRANDON -- The Clinton High School men's cross country team won the Southern Heatwave Classic on Saturday, August 29, at the City of Brandon Cross Country Trail, claiming its second varsity meet victory.
Godwin Onyia led the Arrows, placing fourth overall with a time of 16:38.1 in the 5000-meter race.
Elijah Waldo-Speth followed in sixth in 17:03.1, while
Will Kennedy crossed the finish line in 10th with a time of 17:28.2.
Micah Kieffer and
Logan Moore completed Clinton's scoring five, placing 12th and 13th, respectively.
Clinton's depth continued beyond its scoring five, with four additional Arrows earning top-25 finishes.
Coleman Finch,
Ezra Connelly,
Daniel Dolson, and
Cort Bennett each finished among the top 25 in the individual standings.
The Clinton Junior High School boys' team also competed at the Southern Heatwave Classic, placing fourth in the team standings.
Adrian Brown paced the Arrows, finishing sixth overall with a time of 11:23.4 in the 3000-meter race.
Michael Onyia followed in 10th in 11:35.3, while
Jaden Dasary placed 17th with a time of 11:55.
Owen Mazy and
Lincoln Strickler completed CJHS's scoring five, finishing in 33rd and 48th place, respectively.

Clinton returns to action Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Fleet Feet Tupelo Invitational in Tupelo.
