CLINTON -- The Clinton High School men's cross country team won the team championship at the Clinton Arrow Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26, on the campus of Clinton High School.
Godwin Onyia paced the Arrows, finishing second overall with a time of 16:39 in the 5000m race.
Will Kennedy followed in fifth at 17:05, while
Ezra Connelly finished seventh with a time of 17:27.
Elijah Waldo-Speth and
Micah Kieffer completed Clinton's scoring five, placing eighth and 10th with times of 17:29 and 17:32, respectively, giving the Arrows all five runners inside the top 10.
Clinton displayed its depth beyond the scoring five, as
Coleman Finch,
Noah Duncan,
Matthew Harrison, and
Cort Bennett each finished inside the top 25.
The Arrows finished with 32 points, 61 points ahead of runner-up St. Andrew's Episcopal School. Clinton posted an average scoring time of 17:14 with a 53-second spread.
The Clinton Junior High School boys' cross country team placed fourth in the team standings of the 3000m race.
Michael Onyia paced the Junior Arrows with a second-place individual finish, completing the race. in 10:58.
Jaden Dasary followed in 12th, while Aiden Brown finished 13th.
Owen Mazy and
Lincoln Strickler completed CJHS' scoring five, placing 31st and 36th, respectively.
UP NEXT
The Arrows return to action Monday, Oct. 5, at the Cathedral Invitational in Natchez. The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
