CLINTON -- The Clinton High School football team plays the first of two road games in its 2026 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Region 2-7A schedule Friday night as the Arrows travel to Oxford for a region matchup at Bobby Holcomb Field.

Clinton and Oxford will kick off at 7 p.m. on the campus of Oxford Middle School.

THE MATCHUP

The Arrows (2-5, 1-1 Region 2-7A) enter Friday's game following a 31-17 loss to Starkville on Oct. 16 at Arrow Field.

The Yellowjackets scored 21 unanswered points to build a 31-10 advantage behind three rushing touchdowns from Jacory Ruffin, handing the Arrows their first region loss of the season.

Jayden Jones completed 11 of 19 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown without an interception. Jamari Smith led Clinton's receiving corps with three receptions for 123 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown, while Dayson Scott added four catches for 89 yards.

Jones also led the Arrows on the ground with 72 yards on 15 carries, while Cayden Albert paced Clinton's running backs with 26 yards on eight attempts.

Defensively, Trevion Casnel recorded a team-high 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops and a tackle for loss. Montario Braden added eight solo tackles and a tackle for loss, while Malik Jackson finished with eight total tackles.

Oxford (6-1, 2-0 Region 2-7A) enters Friday's matchup following a 27-24 victory over Germantown on Oct. 16 at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt.

Friday's contest marks the fifth all-time meeting between Clinton and Oxford. The Chargers lead the series 3-1 and have won the last two meetings between the programs.

Oxford claimed a 24-22 victory in 2024 when Clinton last visited Bobby Holcomb Field.

WHAT TO KNOW

The Oxford High School Athletics Department has provided information regarding visiting-fan entrances, parking, and ticketing for Friday's region contest.

Visiting fans should enter on the west side of the stadium through the entrance underneath the athletic facility ramp.

General parking is available behind Oxford Middle School (east side), in front of the middle school (west side), around Bramlett Elementary School, and along Bramlett Boulevard.

Accessible parking is located on the access road between Bobby Holcomb Field and the soccer field.
