The Clinton High School and CJHS Cross Country teams placed second in the Clinton Arrow Invitational on Saturday.

The CHS Arrows placed second in the 5000m race behind Parkway High School of Bossier City, Louisiana, on the campus of Clinton High School.

Godwin Onyia led the Arrows with his pace of 17 minutes, 16 seconds. The sophomore placed 10th with his time.

Logan Moore, a freshman, completed the course in 17 minutes, 28 seconds, and Daniel Dolson, also a freshman, crossed the finish line in 18 minutes four seconds. Moore and Dolson placed 17th and 26th, respectively. 

Noah Duncan was the fourth Arrow across the finish line with his time of 18:08, which was fast enough for 27th.

Ezra Connelly and Tobias Atkinson placed 28th and 29th, respectively. Connelly finished with an 18:08 time, and Atkinson completed the race with a 18:09 time.

CJHS was one point off a victory, falling to Madison Middle School in the 3000m race. Despite three Arrows in the top 10, the Jaguars' 11th-place finisher proved the difference in the junior-high race.

Coleman Finch led the Arrows with a 10:52 time, landing in third individually. Micah Kieffer finished the race just behind Finch for fourth with a time of 10 minutes, 52 seconds.

Jace Williamson completed the course in 11 minutes, eight seconds, for sixth. Ethan McQueen (11:30) and Adrian Brown (11:38) landed in 15th and 18th, respectively, on the individual leader board.

The Arrows head to northern Mississippi when the team races in the Pontotoc XC Invitational on Saturday, October 4, in Pontotoc. The 5000m race begins at 9:40 a.m.
