The Clinton High School Men's Cross Country built motivation and momentum for the upcoming state meet at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Central Mississippi Super Regional held Thursday, October 23, at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
The Arrows toed the line against numerous teams from Mississippi's central region and placed third in the 5000-meter race, which consisted of teams from the association's 6A and 7A classifications -- the highest classification in MHSAA. Clinton's team score of 77 would have placed them second among 7A classified opponents but was still good enough for third overall.
Godwin Oniya led the Arrows with a time of 17 minutes, 22 seconds followed closely by freshman
Logan Moore, who completed the course in 17:33.
Clinton maintained a tight pack as its next three runners completed the course within 17 seconds of each other.
Ezra Connelly led the group with a 17:45 time, followed by
Noah Duncan at 17:46, and
Daniel Dolson at 18:02.
Matthew Harrison and
Dillon Pittman rounded out the Arrows' top seven runners with times of 18:05 and 18:06, respectively.
