FRENCH CAMP -- It is not often that a cross country team achieves a perfect 15 score, but the Clinton High School Women's Cross Country team did exactly that feat on Saturday morning.
The Lady Arrows landed its five scoring runners in the top five of the French Camp Invitational's 5000m race, winning the team competition handily with a perfect 15 score. Those runners were
Olivia Gibbs,
Riley Moore,
Caroline Henry,
Eleanor Wilson, and
Lily Sisson.
Gibbs led the pack with finish of 20 minutes, 55 seconds, winning the race as the first-placed individual. Moore added a second-place time of 21:16, and Henry placed third overall with her time of 21:57. Wilson completed the roughly three-mile course in 22 minutes, three seconds, and Sisson added her finish of 22 minutes, 30 seconds.
In the junior-high girls' competition, a 3200m race, the CJHS Lady Arrows claimed first place overall. AvaKate Boone placed second individually and led her CJHS teammates with a 14:26 pace around the course.
Lauren Kennedy was the third-place finisher with a 14:36, and
Norah Byars chipped a time of 14 minutes, 45 seconds, which was a fast enough run to claim fourth in the junior-high competition.
Katherine Chittom,
Leah Byas, and
Anna Dear placed ninth, 10th, and 11th, respectively, in the junior-high 3200m.
