Early turnovers and big performances proved too much to overcome for the Clinton High School Football team on Senior Night.

King White tossed three touchdowns, Lawson Brandson had three receiving scores and the Maverick defense had two first-quarter interceptions, powering Germantown (6-3, 3-1 Region 2-7A) to a 47-17 win over Clinton Friday night at Arrow Field.

The Arrows' third consecutive MHSAA Region 2-7A defeat puts the pressure on them to beat the Madison Central Jaguars this Thursday, November 6, on the road. A win by eight points or more secures the team's first playoff berth since 2022, while a loss ends the campaign in the regular season. The Jaguars defeated Starkville 38-35 Friday at Yellowjacket Stadium.

Braylon Lowery led the Arrow offense with 19 carries for 94 yards, including a long of 25. Lowery gained 59 yards during the game's opening possession which ended with Braylen Spann's 30-yard field goal. Clinton (4-5, 1-3 Region 2-7A) led 3-0 at that point.

Jayden Jones connected seven of 14 passing attempts, amassing 109 and throwing a touchdown in the second quarter. Jones' 44-yard, touchdown pass to Jaden Johnson, and Spann added his first of two extra-point fiedl goals, cutting the deficit before halftime to 30-10.

Jamari Smith had three catches for 49 yards.

Cayden Albert punched across the goal line in the third. The sophomore running back's 4-yard run cut the Germantown lead down to 37-17.

Defensively, Jaiden Jefferson led the Arrows with six tackles. Robsen Neblett, Dallas Johnson, and Trevion Casnel had five tackles each. Dallas Johnson had two tackles for losses, as well.

White put the Mavericks ahead for good at the first's 6:38 mark, connecting with Lawson Brandson for 20-yard strike. Then White found Brandson again for a 19-yard touchdown after the Arrows' first pick.

A second interception gave Nate Muzzi a chance to convert a 36-yard field goal, giving Germantown a 17-3 advantage after one quarter.

Brandson added his third receiving touchdown from a trick play, catching a pass from Mike Johnson. Nyrikius Johnson made the lead 27 points with a 5-yard run with three minutes, 12 seconds left in the first half.

White tossed his final touchdown of the night — a 61-yard pass — late in the third. Nyrikius Johnson scored a 37-yard rushing touchdown, and Muzzi tacked on a 39-yard field goal in the final 12 minutes.
