The Clinton High School Football team looks to keep its playoff aspirations alive when it hosts the Germantown Mavericks this Friday at 7 p.m. at Arrow Field.
The Arrows (4-4, 1-2 Region 2-7A) aim to rebound after a 33-23 defeat to the Oxford Chargers last Friday night in region play.
Jayden Jones accounted for two touchdowns, one rushing and one passing, while Braylen Spann kicked three field goals, helping Clinton total 23 points.Â
Defensively,Â
Cameron Cornelius led Clinton with seven tackles.Â
Christian Cavett added four tackles, a sack, and a tackle for loss, whileÂ
Dallas Johnson recorded four tackles and one tackle for loss.Â
Davon Merchant added a sack, and Trevion Casnel intercepted a pass, returning it 29 yards.
Germantown enters the contest coming off a 21-17 win over the Madison Central Jaguars last week in Gluckstadtt -- the Mavericks' first win over the Jaguars in their program's history. King White passed for 135 yards and ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns, both in the final quarter, to lead Germantown to the monumental win.
Elsewhere in Region 2-7A, Madison Central plays the Starkville Yellowjackets at Yellowjacket Stadium, and the Murrah Mustangs host Oxford in Jackson.
