The Clinton High School Volleyball team celebrated a win and the Class of 2025 Seniors on Thursday night.

The Lady Arrows showed tremendous grit and rallied past several large deficits to defeat the Puckett High School Lady Wolves in four sets at Clinton High School gymnasium. Mary Preston Bruce, Maelin Cronin, and Brittan Wall along with Paris Brooks, a manager, were recognized in Senior Night festivities before the start of the Varsity game.

"It felt really good to get that win, especially for our confidence," Clinton Head Volleyball Coach Autumn Frost said. "I wanted these girls to know that they have the skills to win these types of ball games."

The Lady Arrows trailed 6-0 and 9-1 during the first set before sparking a collosal rally that won the set. Clinton went on a 15-4 run, and, by the time the Lady Wolves called a timeout, the Lady Arrows held a 16-13 lead. They would not trail again, running away with the opening set, 25-15.

In the second set, Clinton trailed 12-6 before the home team rallied to tie the game. The rally was punctuated by a Harris kill that tied it. In the back-and-forth tussle, Puckett slowly regained its advantaged and pulled away for a 25-20 decision during the set.

The third set was very similar to the first two sets, but the Lady Arrows were the more dominant team. Clinton made several runs and grabbed the set win, 25-21. The Lady Arrows would claim the final set but not without a little excitement. Leading the Lady Wolves, 24-18, Clinton watched its lead disappear before it was a tie score. However, the Lady Arrows dug deep and secured the match with two straight points.

In Junior Varsity (JV) action, the Lady Arrows won the final set of a three-match game, 15-11, to down the Lady Wolves, 2-1. Clinton won the first set, but Puckett answered in the second to force the decisive set.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

"This group of girls is definitely a good group," Frost said. "I have had Maelin and Mary Preston since they were ninth-graders. It is going to be very sad to see them leave. I hope they do great things in the future. Brittan has become a big part of our right side this season, as well. I haven't coached her as long as the other two, but she has been a great asset coming in this season."

Bruce plans to attend the University of Mississippi to purse business and marketing degree. She was escorted by Catherine and Trey Bruce.

Cronin plans to attend college for volleyball or cheer ... She plans to major in mental health counseling. She was escorted by her mother, Kaci Cronin.

Wall plans to attend Hinds Community College to study radiology technology. She was escorted by her parents, Marie and Roe Wall.

Brooks plans to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, majoring in nursing to become a certified registered nursing anesthetist. Brooks was escorted by Cenedra Lee and Gregory Brooks.
