The Clinton Arrow Swim Team (CAST) has waited quite a while for this opportunity.

On Saturday afternoon, the opportunity becomes reality as CAST hosts its first-ever home swim meet, following the purchase of new swimming blocks that are necessary to host a swim meet. The heats will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Clinton YMCA. Admission for the event is $5 for adults and concessions will be sold.

"We are so excited to host our first-ever meet our home pool in Clinton," CAST Head Coach Marcy Rushing said. "Our swimmers have been waiting for this. They are excited to have their friends and teachers come support them."

The CAST swim meet will have Madison Central High School, Ridgeland High School, and St. Andrew's Episcopal School as competitors.

If you have never been to a swim meet, Rushing suggests bringing a lawn chair and some excitement to the Clinton YMCA pool.

CAST SWIMMERS QUALIFY FOR NORTH STATE SWIM MEET

On Saturday, August 17, CAST qualified several swimmers for the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) North State Swim Meet at a swim meet hosted at the Cypress Lake Swimming Pool.

For the 50-yard Freestyle, Isaac Baird and Joshua Ross qualified for the men's team, and Avery Peacock, Ellie Rushing, and Ashlee Sumrall met the mark for the women's team.

Additionally, Hayes Montgomery qualified for the 100-yard Butterfly event. Tejasvi Uppu, Reed Watts, and Ellie Rushing qualified for the 100-yard Freestyle event. Kate Gilliam and Montgomery crossed the qualifying threshold in the 100-yard Breastroke event.

In the relays, the 200-yard Women's Medley Relay Team of Abbie Rushing, Ellie Rushing, Uppu, and Sumrall finished fifth with a qualifying time of 2:17.51. CAST's men's 200-yard Medley Relay Team alson qualified finished third with a qualifying time of 2:00.54. The members of that relay team are Ross Gordon, Joshua Ross, Montgomery, and Watts.

Other qualifying relay teams included the women's foursome of Clara McCombs, Rushing, Sumrall, Uppu, finishing fifth with a qualifying time of 2:02.12 in the 200-yard Freestyle relay. CAST's men's 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Ross, Baird, Watts, and Montgomery finished third place with a time of 1:43.95.
