The Clinton Arrow Swim Team acquired four additional blocks at their official practice location, YMCA in Clinton, allowing them to host their first swim meet. A swim block is a platform mounted at the end of a pool where swimmers begin their race. In order to host an event, the location must have a minimum of six blocks.Â
"We are going to hopefully invite some area teams," says Head Swim Coach, Marcy Rushing. "It will give our kids a chance to swim in their home field and invite their friends and teachers to come see them. We think it will help the morale for Clinton and get everyone excited for the swim team."Â
Rushing, entering her 6th year coaching the Clinton swim team, has consistently led her team to the State Championships every year, with 18 participants qualifying last season. To enhance endurance and competitiveness, they plan to increase training duration and attend additional meets.
"We have a young team," Rushing adds. "I'm so excited to start training them. We are just gonna work hard to get as many kids to State."
Swim has been conducting their summer training sessions in Floowood, Mississippi with a roster of 32 students ranging from 7th to 11th grade.
