PUCKETT -- The Clinton High School Volleyball team collected a win against the Puckett Lady Wolves on Tuesday evening.
Capitalizing on several outstanding individual efforts, the Lady Arrows defeated the Lady Wolves by a score of 3-0, including a tight 26-24 second set, in non-region competition at Puckett High School. Clinton won the opening set, 25-19, and ran away with the match in the third set, 25-13.
Offensively, freshman Taylor Finley had 10 kills and Brittan Wall, a senior, helped out with five more kills. Senior Mary Preston Bruce put on a clinic, setting up 17 assists against Puckett. Senior libero Maelin Cronin led the team with 10 digs. Joelle Ambrose, a freshman, took advantage from the service line, acing 10 serves.
Freshman Aubrey Joiner blocked two Puckett attacks to highlight the Lady Arrows' defensive effort.
Clinton returns to Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Region 2-7A action on Thursday. The Lady Arrows host the Starkville Lady Jackets, playing Junior Varsity at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 5:30 p.m. at Clinton High School.
