The Clinton Arrows baseball team won 2 out of 3 games this weekend as they hosted a portion of the annual Mid-Mississippi Classic. The Arrows defeated McGill-Toolen out of Mobile, Alabama on Friday night by a score of 6-0 before splitting a Saturday doubleheader, dropping the opener to West Lauderdale by a score of 11-3 beore defeating Meridian 11-1 in 5 innings.
On Friday night, the Arrows pitching staff combined for a no-hitter.
Stone Crain started on the mound, going 4.0 innings with 5 strikeouts.
Parker Thames recorded an out in the 5th before
Phillip Burchfield finished the game with the final 2.2 innings with 2 strikeouts. At the plate,
AJ Seiter led the way with 2 hits, a run scored, and 2 RBI.
On Saturday, the Arrows started with an 11-3 loss to the Knights of West Lauderdale. The Knights tallied 15 hits and scored 8 runs in the first 2 innings to jump out to an early lead from the Arrows could not recover.
In the nightcap, the Arrows fell behind early against the Meridian Wildcats before breaking the game open with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning and 6 in the bottom of the 4th before recording the final 3 outs in the 5th to invoke the mercy rule and win 11-1.
Ethan Dodson had 2 hits, a run scored, and an RBI for the Arrows. Seiter had a double and 4 RBI in the second game of the day.
Kemper Meacham earned the win on the mound, going 4.0 innings, allowing only 2 hits a 1 earned run to go along with 4 strikeouts.
Parker Thames came in the 5th and recorded a clean inning to end the game and the day on a high note.
The Arrows return to action Tuesday night as they travel to Pearl to take on the Pirates. Game times will be 5 and 7 PM.
