JACKSON -- Through adversity this season, the Clinton High School Men's Cross Country team ended the 2024 season with a top-10 finish at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A meet on Saturday morning.
Bobby Guillory paced the Arrows with his time of 18:13.03 as the team finished in 10th place in the 5000m race at Choctaw Trails. The finish was a three-spot improvement for the Arrows from their 13th-place finish in the 2023 MHSAA Class 7A meet.
"It's been a rough year with several key runners injured, but we managed to bring it together," Clinton Head Men's Cross Country Coach Eric Solis said. "We placed higher than we were projected (heading into the meet). We even had two runners place in our top five that set a personal record or ran a season best.
"I am super excited about next year," Solis added. "We will be young but very talented."
Guillory's time was the junior's best this season and was two seconds shy of his personal record.
Will Kennedy was the second Clinton finisher and completed the course in 18 minutes, 33 seconds.
Logan Moore posted a 18:47.21, and
Daniel Dolson added his time of 18:50, setting a new personal record in the 5000m for himself. Moore and Dolson, both eighth graders, were the third and fourth finishers.
Sophomore
Dillon Pittman was the last scoring runner for the Arrows. Pittman recorded a time of 19:01.14.
