The Lady Arrows Volleyball Team began the season with an eventful two days at the inaugural MHSAA Invitational at the Jackson Convention Center.  On Friday in Pool Play, the Lady Arrows came back strong at the end of a long day by defeating Jim Hill (25-18 and 25-20) after dropping to the first two matches to Alcorn Central (15-25 and 17-25) and Pass Christian (18-25 and 18-25).

On Saturday, the Lady Arrows had a memorable day to say the least.  They began the day with an unexpected forfeit in the 1st Round of Bracket Play.  They moved on to the 2nd Round to take on the Olive Branch Lady Conquistadors.  In a hard-fought 1st set, the Lady Arrows held on to win the set 27-25.  The Lady Arrows went on to sweep the Lady Quistors by taking the 2nd set 25-20.

The Lady Arrows then moved on to the Semifinals of the Silver Bracket in a matchup with the Lady Trojans of Northeast Lauderdale High School.  The Semifinal match was a nailbiter, with the Lady Trojans taking the 1st set 25-23.  The Lady Arrows roared back in the 2nd set, evening the match with a 25-15 score.  In the 3rd set, the two teams only played to 15, and the Lady Trojans won the decisive set 15-6.  Even though the Lady Trojans were victorious, they decided to leave the tournament, paving the way for a berth for the Lady Arrows in the Championship Match against the Lady Commodores of Lafayette High School.

In the Championship match, the Lady Commodores defeated the Lady Arrows 25-7 and 27-13, giving the Lady Arrows 2nd place in the Silver Bracket of the tournament.

The Lady Arrows will be back in action on Tuesday, August 8 at 6 PM in Flowood at Northwest Rankin High School to take on the Lady Cougars.
