The Arrows open their home slate this Friday night, September 1, at 7 PM when the Cougars of Northwest Rankin make the drive from Flowood to visit Arrow Field.  The Arrows come into the game with a record of 0-1 after losing to Warren Central last Friday night 28-7.  The Arrows lost 4 fumbles leading to 21 points for the Vikings and look to remedy the turnovers this week.  The Cougars enter this matchup with a 1-0 record after coming from behind to defeat Germantown 35-28.  In a game marked by big plays, the Cougars made one more big play than the Mavericks to begin the year with a win.

Series History
The series between Clinton and Northwest Rankin dates back annually to at least the 2004 season (maxpreps.com).  Over those 19 matchups, Clinton has won 12 games and Northwest Rankin has won 7.  This series has been incredibly even over the past 6 years dating back to 2017.  Both the Arrows and the Cougars have won 3 of the last 6 matchups, and the total score has been 141-139 in favor of the Arrows over those past 6 matchups.  

Clinton Week 1 Recap
The Arrows on offense will look to more production from Senior QB Sam Semi, who went 15 of 23 through the air for 175 yards last week against Warren Central.  Senior RB Jakobe Williams scored the Arrows' lone Touchdown in Week 1 and rushed for 55 yards on 13 carries.  Senior RB Brady Torrence caught 5 passes out of the backfield for 65 yards, and Senior WR Veshone Malone caught 3 passes for 63 yards.

The Arrows' defense will be forced to find a way to replace Senior DL Jonathan Flowers, who tore his ACL and partially tore his MCL on the first series of the game in Week 1 against Warren Central.  That production will come from players like Senior DL Tyler Railey and Senior DL TJ Spann who combined to lead the team with 7 tackles in Week 1.

Northwest Rankin Week 1 Recap
The Cougars went down early to Germantown last week with the Mavericks getting out to a 14-0 lead after the 1st quarter.  The comeback was fueled by a balanced attack that saw the Cougars gain 294 yards through the air and 171 yards on the ground.

Senior QB Wesley White went 17 of 38 passing for 294 yards and 3 TDs.  RB Dylan Lewis carried the ball 16 times for 93 yards and a score.  Freshman WR De'Shawn Dillon caught 8 passes for 189 and 2 TDs, including a 97 yard scoring reception.
