The Lady Arrows dropped Thursday night's match in straight sets to Madison Central 25-18, 25-20, and 25-13.
The first set was a back and forth affair, with each team trading points until Madison took a timeout with the Arrows holding a 7-6 advantage. The set continued to seesaw until the Jaguars pulled away at the end of the set. The teams were tied at 16 and then the Lady Jaguars took 9 of the final 11 points to win the first set.
The Lady Arrows started slowly in the second set, but after a timeout with the Lady Jaguars holding a 6-2 advantage, the Lady Arrows continued to grind out points against the #1 ranked team in the metro area. The Lady Arrows went on a run to make the second set a close one at 25-20.
The Lady Jaguars kept their momentum in the third set, taking the final frame 25-13.
Defensively,
Maelin Cronin led the way again for the Lady Arrows with 7 digs from her libero position.
Addisyn Daniels and
Aubrey Joiner defended the net with 3 blocks between them.
Offensively,
Saylor Bynum led the way with 3 kills and
Mary Preston Bruce contributed 7 assists from the setter position and also had 2 aces behind the service line. Cronin also had a solid service game with 3 aces, and
Madison Harris had a couple of aces herself.
The Lady Arrows send their record to 5-8 and 0-2 in Region 2-7A. They will return to action next Tuesday night when they host the Lady Mustangs of Murrah High School at 6 PM.
