The Lady Arrows Volleyball Team's 2023 season came to a close Tuesday night as they lost a heartbreaking 5 set match at Starkville. The Lady Arrows won the 1st set 25-17, dropped the 2nd set 25-21, won the 3rd set 25-20, dropped the 4th set 25-9, and dropped the decisive 5th set 15-9. The Lady Arrows finish the season with a 9-17 record, but with zero seniors on the roster, the future is bright for the young team.
Junior
Maelin Cronin led the way defensively for the Lady Arrows with 25 Digs, followed by Freshman
Joelle Ambrose with 7 Digs, Sophomore
Zoey Washington who recorded 6 Digs and a Block, and Junior
Mary Preston Bruce who recorded 5 Digs. 8th Grader
Addisyn Daniels stuffed 3 Blocks on the defensive side of the net.
Offensively, Junior Setter
Mary Preston Bruce recorded 23 Assists to go along with 3 Kills and 2 Aces behind the service line. Cronin had 8 Kills to lead the team and also had 2 Aces. Daniels and Washington recorded 7 Kills each while Washington served 3 Aces. Sophomores
Saylor Bynum and
Madison Harris also recorded multiple Aces for the Lady Arrows.
When asked to reflect upon the season, Head Coach Autumn Frost said, "We had a hard fought season with some unfortunate injuries. Even with everything we endured we worked hard every day. The season may not have finished how we wanted, but it showed our potential for years to come."
