Friday night is Continental Night as the Clinton Arrows host the Golden Wave of Tupelo High School. The Arrows enter Friday's contest with an overall record of 1-6 and 0-1 in Region 2-7A following last week's 60-21 loss to Starkville. The Golden Wave enter Friday night with a record of 6-2 and 2-0 in Region 2-7A following a win over Germantown by a score of 42-3.
For the Arrows, it was another week of mixed emotions as Sophomore QB
Josef Walker suffered a non-contact injury during practice on Tuesday after an impressive debut last week in Starkville that saw him complete 11 of 14 attempts for 133 yards and 2 TD. On the other hand, the Arrows expect Senior QB
Sam Semi to return from the injury he sustained all the way back in Week 3 at Brandon.
For the Golden Wave, look for a balanced attack on the ground and through the air. QB Jeremiah Harrell has thrown for over 1,100 yards and 13 TD, while their RB tandem of Quay Middlebrooks and Jaeden Hill have combined to rush for just under 1,100 yards and 16 total TD.
Continental Tire is hosting Friday night's home game as they have shown unwavering support of Clinton Public Schools as well as Clinton Athletics. Tonight, there will be poms and footballs given away to fans at the stadium, and there will be a special giveaway at the faculty tailgate before kickoff. One lucky CPSD family will walk away with a set of 4 tires from Continental!
Clinton Public Schools will also be recognizing faculty, staff, administration, and students during halftime. Clinton Public Schools ranked as the 3rd highest performing district in the state of Mississippi during the 2022-2023 school year and earned the district's highest score under the most recent model handed down by the Mississippi Department of Education.
