The Clinton Arrows fell to Starkville by a score of 60-21 on Friday night.  The loss drops the Arrows to 1-6 on the season and 0-1 in Region 2-7A.  The win moves the Yellow Jackets to 6-2 and 1-1 in Region 2-7A.  The Arrows led the game in the 2nd quarter by a score of 21-16 before Starkville scored 44 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

The Arrows jumped on the board first when Senior RB Brady Torrence broke free around the right side for a 50 yard Touchdown.  Senior K Hayden Wolfe added the PAT to make the score 7-0.  Starkville answered quickly with a 7 yard Touchdown run from Courtland Cooper.  The PAT turned into a fortunate play for the Jackets as the holder threw a jump ball on a bad snap and a tipped ball found the hands of a Starkville receiver to make the score 8-7.  The Arrows answered immediately with a pass from Sophomore QB Josef Walker to Sophomore WR Jaydann Hollins that went for 52 yards into the end zone to make the score 14-8 to end the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, the Jackets scored on the first play from scrimmage when Cooper ran in from 13 yards out.  Another 2-point conversion made the score 16-14.  The Arrows answered quickly again as Walker hit Senior WR Veshone Malone on a 4th and 2 play to score from 28 yards out to make the score 21-16.  The Jackets then scored 21 unanswered to end the 1st half and head into halftime with a 37-21 score.

Starkville's offense went on the field first in the 2nd half and scored quickly to extend the lead, followed by 2 more scores in the 3rd quarter to push the score to its final of 60-21.

The Arrows return to action next Friday night when they host the Tupelo Golden Wave.  Continental Tire is hosting Continental Night.  There will be giveaways galore along with recognition of the partnership between the Clinton community and Continental.  There will be a free set of tires given away during a celebration of Clinton Public Schools' A-Rating.
