Born and raised in Clinton, Mississippi, Jarekus Singleton begins his first season as Clinton High School Varsity Assistant Coach and Head Coach for Sumner Hill Basketball. A former Dandy Dozen selection for Clinton High, Singleton was a standout who averaged 20.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game, earning All-State and All-Metro honors twice.
He played collegiate basketball at the University of Southern Mississippi (2002–2006) and William Carey University. At William Carey, Singleton was named National Player of the Year (2006–2007) after averaging 24.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2 steals per game. Singleton holds a Bachelor’s degree in Coaching and Sports Administration from Southern Miss.
In addition to coaching, Singleton continues his career as an acclaimed blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter signed to Alligator Records, earning both national and international recognition. He is a proud father of three and married to Deondra Singleton.
