The Clinton Lady Arrows were victorious against the Newton County Lady Cougars 4-0 on Friday night at Clinton High School.
The Lady Arrows got on the board in the first inning after
Makenzie Cooley hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.
A sacrifice bunt by
Annalise Whitworth extended the Clinton lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third.
The Lady Arrows scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on
Destiny Funchess' solo shot.
Whitworth opened the game for Clinton Varsity Lady Arrows. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking four.
Keelyn Costancio set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Clinton Varsity Lady Arrows with two hits in four at bats. Cooley, Funchess, and Whitworth each drove in one run for Clinton Varsity Lady Arrows. Cooley stole two bases.
The Lady Arrows worked the count all day, amassing five walks and turned two double plays in the game.
