The Lady Arrows Softball team earned a pivotal win over the Madison Central Lady Jaguars on Thursday night at Arrow Field. The win moves the Lady Arrows to a record of 12-5 overall and 5-1 in Region 2-7A.
The Lady Arrows started fast on Thursday night as they plated 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.Â
Keelyn Constancio was hit by a pitch, followed by
Madison Nelson's first of 3 hits on the night.Â
Estrella Constancio and Makenzie then walked to bring home the first run.Â
Kaelyn Thames singled up the middle to score 2 runs before
Ashlen Albritton doubled to right field to bring home the 4th run.Â
Madison Rhodes then had an RBI groundout to make the score 5-0.Â
Tyler Brown then had a 2-out single to center to bring home the 6th run of the inning. Â
The Lady Jaguars plated a run in the top of the 3rd, but the Lady Arrows responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the 4th when Nelson bunted in a run to make the score 7-1. Â
The Lady Jaguars scored 3 in the top of the 5th on a 2-run home run and another RBI hit to narrow the lead to 7-4. The Lady Arrows immediately responded with a run in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI single from
Destiny Funchess and an RBI double from Nelson to bring the score to its eventual final of 9-4.
At the plate for the Lady Arrows, Nelson went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. K Constancio added 2 runs scored, and Cooley, Funchess, Thames, Albritton, Rhodes, and Brown all contributed a hit and at least 1 run batted in.
In the circle for the Lady Arrows,
Ashlen Albritton earned the win, going 5 innings, giving up 7 hits, and 3 earned runs to go along with a couple of strikeouts. E Constancio pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 0 hits and striking out 1.
The Lady Arrows return to action on Friday night at Arrow Field as they host a non-division opponent in the Lady Cougars of Newton County High School. JV will begin at 5 and Varsity at 6:30.
