The Lady Arrows Softball team earned a 10-1 victory at Starkville on Tuesday night in their Region 2-7A opener. The win pushes the Lady Arrows to an overall record of 7-4 and 1-0 in Region 2-7A.
The Lady Arrows jumped out to an early lead with 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Lady Yellow Jackets responded with their lone run of the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning. The Lady Arrows then put the game away with 2 more runs in the top of the 4th followed by 6 runs in the top of the 5th to pull away late. The Lady Arrows had 10 hits and only surrendered 2 hits on the night.
At the plate for the Lady Arrows,
Madison Nelson led the way, going 2-for-4 with a triple, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
Makenzie Cooley went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Estrella Constancio went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
In the circle for the Lady Arrows,
Estrella Constancio earned the win, going 5 innings, giving up 0 hits and 1 earned run to go along with 5 strikeouts.
Ashlen Albritton pitched the final 2 innings, allowing only 2 hits to go along with 2 strikeouts.
The Lady Arrows return to action on Thursday night as they hit the road again, this time to Madison Central to take on the Lady Jaguars. JV begins at 5 and Varsity begins at 6:30.
