The Lady Arrows Softball team won an 18-17 decision at Jones County Junior College over West Harrsion on Friday afternoon. The win moves the Lady Arrows to a record of 4-2 on the season.
The Hurricanes struck first with 2 runs in the 1st before the Lady Arrows answered with a run of their own in the 2nd. The Lady Arrows then took the lead in the top of the 5th with 3 runs to make the score 4-2. The Hurricanes stormed back with 6 of their own in the bottom of the 5th to go up 8-4. The Lady Arrows scored 4 in the top of the 7th to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
In the top of the 8th, the Lady Arrows scored 2 before the Hurricanes tied it back up with 2 of their own in the bottom half. The game went to the 9th inning and the Lady Arrows piled up 8 runs to make the score 18-10, needing only 3 outs to secure the win. The Hurricanes scored 7 in the bottom half of the inning with 1 out before lining into a double play to end the game at 18-17 with multiple runners on base.
Junior
Estrella Constancio led the Lady Arrows at the plate with 4 hits including a double and triple to go along with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI.
Madison Nelson had 2 hits with 3 runs scored. The Lady Arrows had 11 hits as a group to go along with 8 Hurricane errors and 8 walks.
Ashlen Albritton got the start in the circle for the Lady Arrows, giving up 8 unearned runs in 4.1 innings on 6 hits. She also had 4 strikeouts. Constancio finished the game with the final 4.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 7 unearned runs to go along with 3 strikeouts.
The Lady Arrows return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Summit, MS to take on North Pike. Game times will be 5 and 6:30.
