The Lady Arrows softball team dropped a shootout in Florence on Tuesday night by a score of 17-10. The loss drops the Lady Arrows to a record of 3-2 on the season.
The Lady Arrows jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2 innings when they scored 2 in the opening frame and 2 more in the top of the 2nd. The Lady Eagles roared back in the bottom of the 3rd with 5 runs to take the lead and 5 more in the bottom of the 4th to go up 10-4. The Lady Arrows took their turn to climb back with 5 runs of their own in the top of the 5th and 1 more in the top of the 6th to tie the game at 10. The Lady Eagles delivered the knockout blow with 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th before getting the final 3 outs to win 17-10.
Keelyn Constancio led the Lady Arrows at the plate with 3 hits and 3 runs scored to go along with 1 RBI and a walk.
Madison Rhodes and
Estrella Constancio also had multiple-hit nights and Constancio added 3 RBI.
Makenzie Cooley added a hit and 3 walks to go along with 2 RBI.
Destiny Funchess also had a hit and 2 RBI. As a team, the Lady Arrows piled up 11 hits including 3 extra base hits while also drawing 11 walks.
Head Coach Rachel Hurley said of her team's effort, "We clawed back in the game to tie it up in the bottom of the 6th, but some things did not go our way and the game piled up on us. We will learn from this valuable experience and continue to get better throughout the season."
The Lady Arrows return to action on Friday afternoon as they travel to Ellisville and the campus of Jones County Junior College to take on the Hurricanes of West Harrison High School. First pitch will be at approximately 4:30 PM.
